Re: 1080 problem

Sampling frequency: 44.1 kHz to 192 kHz
Sampling rate: Constant for all channels
Word length: Up to 24 bits
Blu-ray Discâ„¢ channel support: Up to eight channels of 24-bit/96 kHz audio; designed to be expandable should the Blu-ray Disc standard adopt additional channels
Two- to six-channel support: Up to 24-bit/192 kHz
Maximum bit rate: Up to 18 Mbps on Blu-ray Disc
this is the package i just purchased and connected my vm v+ under 1080 widescreen and theres a few problems ive noticed.
picture is blotchy, alot of the channels cant be made to fit the entire screen ive tryed every setting possible, sound is really poor and the v+ box freezes a glitches at the slightest thing, i transfered from sky where i only had digital not hd and the picture quality is really clear compared to vm v+ i spoke to tech department and they wont dropt my acc due to not been with them 12 months. now im seeing more problems i cant wait to look for another provider for my tv service.

The channels that "don't fit the entire screen"... are they HD channels? If so then that means the programme you are watching was filmed in 4:3. HDMI shows the channel in it's correct format, you can't stretch the image. This is not a fault.

If they are SD channels then you need to change the V+ to 1080i WIDE to stretch the pic on 4:3 SD channels.

Have you tried the 720p setting regarding "blotchy pic"? What channels are you getting a poor pic on? SD or HD?

Have you had a play around with the TV's settings? you need to configure your own tv for your preferences.

Also, well done for re-opening a 4 year old thread

Re: 1080 problem

Hi

there isnt a fault with your tv or the box its a long well known issue on the sa boxes as i have a samsung v+ and the issue isnt present on the samsung v+ boxes on 1080i only on the sa boxes

I know what issue you are getting its only present on the epg menu like a fuzzing round the edges of the fonts on the screen.

just leave your setting on 720 wide

Re: 1080 problem

TAZMANUK i wish that was it m8 but following advice from falts department at vm i left the settings 12hrs on each 1080,720 and then both version but wideand the programs i recorded play back blotchy also and some tech guy said that if its a falt the problem would record if not then its not vm box playing up ive even connected my sons tv to the box under scart connection and its still same m8.
im no expert mind but i have to also point out the heatgenerated from the box within the 1st 5mins of being switched on is so bad ive attached my sone xbox fans to try to keep the box cool as thats when the disstotion really kicks in like an old 90's pirate movie haha.

Re: 1080 problem

1080i is higher definition BUT as it is interlaced, the moving picture or dynamic resolution is worse than 720p.

1080p would be ideal but would take twice the bandwidth of both 720p and 1080i. 720p and 1080i have almost exactly the same bandwidth but as 1080 is the bigger number, most broadcasters use it.
AFAIK all VM HD and SKY HD transmisions are 1080i. BluRay is 1080p.
