I'd agree, but he's dead and he's not going to see whether you take it or not. I wouldn't take it if he was still alive though.

Guilt is over-rated. Take the money and be thankful.

The largest bequest was to the Girlguiding movement in memory of his wife Sheena who was a keen supporter of the Guides and Brownies. She died in 2001.

In his will Forester-Smith left more than £1m to charities, including £312,291 each to the Macmillan Nurses Cancer Association and Cancer Research UK - but nothing to his daughter.

The two organisations have also yet to decide if they will accept the money.

So these charities can afford to be picky now ?

They could put it towards better child protection measures and education on safety for their members.

It is easy for the daughter, in these circumstances to contest the will. I would have thought that Sky News would have reported this if she was doing so. This inclines me to assume their reporting of the story is not as accurate as it could be.

If the money had been earned from activities linked to his paedophilia I'd agree, but it appears unlikely that this is the case.

How can he feel guilt if he is dead.

Its not blood money unless it was earned through something like child pornography or other illicit means.
I'd take the money and either spend it where it was intended or break it down and donate much smaller amounts over about 10 different charities. I certainly wouldn't reject it.

I think by Blood Money Hom3r means the guy 'paying off ' his guilt. I agree to an extent,however him giving the money doesn't change the facts of what he did.
Anyway,it's money and who are we mere mortals to decide the guys guilt or what-not.

she has refused any comment and wanted nothing to do with her father after he branded her a "liar" ,so i would assume from that she doesn't want to contest the will nor does she want any of his money

one question that has sprung to my mind is IF this was to show his repentance why didn't he donate it anonymously ? the same for the money he left to mcmillans and cancer research uk

It may not be that simple. If those charities accepted the money, it may damage their public image to be seen to be accepting money from paedophiles. If their public image is damaged, then they may lose more than the value of the donations.. Just imagine the headlines if some of the tabloids got hold of it..

quite right ,if they do accept it then the guides must be seen to be doing something constructive with the money or some of the money to make the donation "clean" so to speak
