I reckon Mclaren hedged their bets by leaving one car out and bringing one in. Lewis` tyres may have been ok at the point he was brought in but in maybe another 10 laps they could have been shot, he`s not the easiest on his tyres.
Still i think he has to look back and think himself lucky to get any points as that was quite a shunt he got from Webber who i still can`t believe made a stop for a new nose yet still beat Schumacher

Whoever made the call got it right allthough it could have backfired, Jenson was lucky to go off where he did!

He deserves credit for keeping it on the rack and winning the race, whoever made the call simply got lucky that there was no more rain..Which is why I believe that even after what's been said someone else made the final call as they would have had to have had the weather information.

On a different note anyone looking forward to BTCC starting next weekend? I find it's a great light hearted racing with some great action and fills in the F1 free weekends

All you have to do is look at the lap before the hamilton/webber incident to see that both Alonso and Massa was struggling with grip and starting to make stupid mistakes under pressure and braking and also due to the fact that Kubica was slightly holding them up.. I think 3rd could have been a possibility, but Kubica would have been another matter.. Although slower than ALO/MAS he had more grip so could brake a lot later and keep more control as to where he made overtakers attempt the manouvere..

think this race once again showed what the main problem with F1 is. When the track is damp it is down to the drive to find the grip and work out how much power, braking to use lap after lap. There is no data or engineer who can tell the driver this.

As soon as the track is dry the engineers can look at the data and an someone who has never driven an F1 car can then tell a driver when to use the power, brake etc. This is why I don't feel Massa should have been world champ as too much of his driving is done outside the car.

Take that away and we have more human element and more chance to have some proper racing

Just going by Lewis complaining on his radio that he was struggling to pass Fernando as his tires had gone after catching him at an astonishing rate and following for 2 laps, which Martin Brundle commented on and found odd.

Yep I remember the complaint... Amazing how he was +2 a lap just before that comment.. As the commentators said "It's just dirty air"

Trying though to guess a hypothetical outcome where everyone could be right though doesn't change the result..

I think LH was just getting frustrated and blamed the tyres for not being able to pass. I think if he did or dropped back and had clean air the tyres would be fine.

Just the usual case of drivers always moaning if they don't win

Jesus, give the man some credit. It was stated several times yesterday, by the driver, the drivers Engineer and the Team Principal thjat it was Jensons call to come in when he did for slicks.

He's the driver he can feel when the grip is starting to return to the track. They have sophisticated wether monitoring equipment so they knew it wasn't going to rain heavily again - not luck.

Jenson gambled to get the jump on everyone else, as you saw as soon as the other teams could see Jensons times everybody made a dive for the pits causing congestion and extending pit times.

It was all about who had the balls to go for slicks first, and Jenson did.

I agree that Mclaren hedged their bets by making Hamilton pit, and it nearly paid off. He should have been able to get past at least one of the Ferraris.

If he'd stayed out there's no guarantee that he would've got 2nd. Jenson has showed that not only can he conserve his tyres that he can still get performance out of them without killing them.

We don't yet know if Hamilton can do that.

Actually reading more into it his choice was NOTHING to do with the rain, the drying track or the risk of going on slicks, he himself states that his intermediates were shredded hence he wanted new tyres and the team agreed with him..



As for Hamilton v Jenson they're two very different drivers.. Both have different advantages and weaknesses

At the point of the crash, Hamilton was attempting an overtake of Massa, he had a good chance of taking him when Webber hit him.
