It'll be about time, but I don't know how the more "flamboyant" commentators they will contain themselves, to be honest.

Does anyone know, if any action has been taken against Circuit de Catalunya, for the abhorrent display by some fans.

i'll hold fire on USGPE until they actually enter. Although we will know that by the start of June as the closing date for entries is the end of this month.

I think they would like the publicity of a female driver but from the US there is only really Danica or Sarah Fisher, Sarah has driven an F1 car but hasn't had a great career, and Danica isn't great on road courses so that might be one for further down the line.

I know the circuit is being looked into but this time it was one fan and is being looked into as a lone nutter much like the priest at Silverstone a few years back

the last woman to drive an F1 car was Sarah Fisher who did some demonstration laps in a McLaren at the US GP a few years ago.

Giovanna ended up having an affair with Niki Laudi. She was at a disadvantage in that the car she had was rubbish, future world champion Damon Hill only got it on the grid twice.

Desire Wilson did win a F1 race at Brands Hatch albeit a non championship one

Re: Formula 1 2009 Season [may contain real time spoilers]

Danica will be rubbish in F1. Bourdais was a 4-time ChampCar champion and hasn't done brilliantly compared to Vettel. Her road-course record is worse than other esteemed IRL drivers. Publicity stunt, nothing more. I rate Sarah Fisher more than her.

Re: Formula 1 2009 Season [may contain real time spoilers]

I was aware of these ladies, but I was referring to a concerted and contracted effort to included women in Formula One. The unfortunate record of women in the sport has not exactly set the world alight, the sport's most successful woman driver, Lella Lombardi, scored only half a point, in the nineteen seventies. But in the modern guise of the sport there has to be a different breed of driver, not just women, but men as well. I think the competitiveness of the men in today's sport is variable and needs shaking up. I do believe actively encouraging the inclusion of women into the sport will show how far it has come in today's world. The apalling displays of racism shown by many fans in Spain and in other country's around the world, shows that now, more than ever, the sport HAS to show that it supportively encourages equality, fairness and inclusion. Change HAS already happened, but it needs to sustain and grow for the sport to survive. In today's media world, where access to the sport has never been wider, any woman coming into the sport will have one hell of a point to prove and will be scrutinised, examined and dissected more than any other driver. We thought that had happened (pointlessly, in my opinion) with Lewis Hamilton, but this will be something very different.

When this happens, it will leave only one more bar to becoming a Formula One driver and that will be money.

Re: Formula 1 2009 Season [may contain real time spoilers]

well if a woman wants to get into F1 fair enough but I don't see why F1 should have a woman just for the sake of it.

WOW, about time all the teams got thier heads together and decided on a single line of thought...

All of them have now said that they'll quit if the budget cap goes ahead...

Re: Formula 1 2009 Season [may contain real time spoilers]

Anyone thinking that it is a good job they didn't adopt the driver with most wins in the season wins the cahmpionship idea. Button would have that nearly sewn up soon. It's such an amazing turnaround for him
