Been there. Done that. Someone else's server room though. Took us over an hour with all the windows on that floor of the building open and 15 fans pointed at the servers to get the ambient temperature below 40 c.

Yeah, took us about 5 hours before the air con started working properly again. The room hasn't got any windows and is located in the back of a room, in a partition type cupboard. It's not ideal in the slightest but they routed all the networking and everything from the entire site there before i joined so it's going to stay.

Re: Are routers noisy?

I had a router that gave off a mild high pitch noise. Not noticeable when working but would be at night, but that was years ago. Routers these days should be silent.

I also had a router that made a bit of a hissing sound, but my modern router is totally silent.

Re: Are routers noisy?

I've replaced a few fans on rack equipment with silent fans (they tend to be the same width but deeper with a slower running speed so that they move the same amount of air) costs about £10 for each new fan...not really worth it for something in a comms room but these were for a guy who worked from home and the rack in the upstairs office used to drive him crazy at night..
