I am not 100% sure but I think you need to stay on the 50MB as it's like on a mobile contract you aren't allowed to downgrade you rental during a contract or at least with the first 6-8 months in some cases.

Re: 50Mb areas
Possibly, but you may end up losing discounts that would then make it more than staying on 50Mbit

Who says I want or need one? I have a wired network already set up here that works perfectly fine, shouldn't I be given an option to actually have the router or not instead of being forced to take it?

Just another part of striping you for as much as possible. Like the "activation" fee. What activation? the service is already connected to your house anyway. More fool anyone who pays it. Do you *really* need 50meg d/l speed?, really??

Reading the thread before you post is a good thing!
Put it this way - I know when my area gets the equipment installed, but when it'll be ready for connections, piece of string! Ready when it's ready.

Distance from the exchange not an issue with cable as it doesn't use the BT exchange, so don't panic. So long as it's been released to your area and you have cable in your street all should be fine!
