And a lot of younger managers are coaches these days and are quite happy to have a director of football, the older one's aren't, seems reasonable to me to quit if you are unhappy with the way the club is being run

Well, we weren't talking about other managers, were we? We were talking about Redknapp. But, as you mentioned it, I'll indulge.....
There is a big difference between younger managers and Redknapp. Younger managers are just starting out, and will do what they are told. If a younger manager even tried to have a say on who they will, or won't work with, they would soon be black marked as being a trouble causer. Redknapp is a seasoned pro, and has been relatively successful in his career. Which put's him in a much better situation than a younger manager, as he can make certain demands from directors, without it damaging his career. A young, inexperienced manager can not have that kind of freedom.

It's entirely possible that I've forgotten more about football than you will ever know about, so wind that neck back in.

Did JM not win the European Cup with a rather unfancied Porto side then?

Yeah, he's good.
I wonder if Roman mentioned the millions which would be made available to him when offering him the job....

Your right lets get back to Harry, if you remember at the time he first left Pompy there was talk of changes being made to the staff, Jim Smith and Kevin Bond being sacked, he said if they go I go, hardly some one displaying a lack of loyalty eh and he said it again when a new director of football was appointed with responsibility for youth set up, for some one who has been responsible for the emergence of so much young English talent, I think that is a complete slap in the face

Roy Keane has complete control, Ince has it, Southgate has it, even ones with no real experience like Boothroyd have it etc etc Some want to coach and not get involved with the day to day running and any chairman able to dominate the manager like that really should think whether they have the right manager in charge imo

Gallas (unlit), Van Persie, Rio (weed), Rooney, Berbatov are all smokers. Anymore?

If I want to know about Redknapps loyalty, I'll ask someone who's in a good position to give me an honest answer. Someone like Billy Bonds for example.
