But it does mean some can have a great old rant over it and of course it allows the VM haters to stoke the fire abit.

Didnt someone say no STM when 50MB is rolled out due to it being on the Docsis Version x Network, and it wouldnt be necessary?

It isnt neccessary, its just being put on because neil loves STM.
From the start 50Mbit was supposed to be a premium product without STM, it is only recently that neil changed his mind and set it in stone to have STM.
But whatever, useless company.

Re: Virgin Media Announces Price Increases
This is the price rise that went through for most customers in June.
customers who were on a 12 month contract will not get notification of any rise until there contract is due to expire.

Definately...
Customer's who had the 3for30 with XL tv included did not have a price rise on 1st June like everyone else...Instead they were kept at the £30 price until the offer ended. At this point the XL TV package was increased by £1.50 and then the bundle price was increased by £1
Also from 1st September Customers on XL TV will pay £1 extra for sky sports.
So £19 Per month... This also affects the VIP package so that will be £87 if you don't pay by DD.

I've just signed up for the FibreCity 100MB offering which they are starting to install in Bournemouth in September. Don't know the cost yet or the upload speeds but as soon as I get them I will post for reference. If good price I can see a lot of VM customers switching to this in Bournemouth.

Its also supposed to be 100mbit "burstable" so not 100mbit ALL of the time, but just at the points that a particular user needs those speeds and the network has spare capacity. I believe I read somewhere that standard speeds most people will consistently get will be at least 30mbit

Hi,
It actually works much like BT's FTTH where the 100Mbit is always there if you need it (large downloads or uploads, for example) it just settles down to as you say 30Mbit (minimum) when it's not really being used, so the bandwith can be shared equally, fios in the US works this way as well, you're pretty much guarenteed the 100/100 If you need it/can push it/can find a server to handle it.
