going through the motions

hi

im trying to sort out a wireless cable router ( netgear super g 108mbps )

anyway halfway through the setup after conecting wires ect im asked for i.p gateway subnet primary dns and secondary dns

iv spoken to a guy on tech support but all he could give me was ip secondary dns and domain name

where do i go for the rest or are they standard stuff ( im assuming not lol)

plz help

In most cases you don't actually need to enter anything to the router setup assuming you are connecting to a cable modem. Tech support can't actually give you much information as they dont "support" routers.

I'd suggest a reset to factory on the router setup.

Power off the modem, router and computer(s)
plug ethernet between router WAN (internet) and modem, plug ethernet between router LAN (network) and computer.
Power modem and let settle
Then power router and let settle
Then power computer and let settle.

Establish a wired connection first, and later worry about the wireless.

Once powered up you should be able to browse (Internet Explorer) to the router's admin page. If you can't do that you need more examination of your computer's networking and internet explorer settings.

Once powered up the router connected to Cable should auto detect the internet settings from the modem. If it does not, then we'll need to take a more specific look.

can you believe from the disk the* cough ,cough* wizard asked for gateway, mask, ect but the route which was supposed to be for someone with a little knowledge of networks found everything for you
anyway i v sorted it but thanks v much for your time
