Will licence payers give Apple £2 a go to watch BBC shows?
Quote:
The corporation reported that viewers were watching half a million programmes a day online, which also includes those watched on PCs, Macs and Apple TVs.
Doctor Who, Torchwood and EastEnders are the most popular, with people spending up to 25 minutes at a time online.
The figures were released as the BBC announced that hit shows such as Ashes to Ashes and Little Britain will be offered as paid-for downloads on iTunes.

So we pay £135.50 to the BBC so they can make programs for us to watch & listen and now they expect us those that paid for the programs in the first place to pay the best part of 2 quid to view them again via Itunes.
Worth discussing or is it discusting?

I won't pay Apple a penny for anything.

Nope, I wouldn't pay it if we're going to be paying to watch them already.

I won't be, but I suspect people will. People already buy BBC DVDs. Admittedly, with most BBC DVDs you actually get a fairly good selection of extras that you won't get with iTunes.

This is the bit that stinks.

Programmes made available on iTunes will no longer be available through iPlayer.

How long are things on iPlayer though?
The shows will be appearing on iTunes 8 days after broadcast.

Unreal as if the corporation are not taking the british public for mugs as it is. Sorry as far as i can see if you log into itunes or whatever the apple thing is from a UK email address then you shouldn't have to pay. Things like this really **** me off and before someone asks yes i am one of the people that would be happy to do away with the bbc.

You have the free option of iPlayer.
Are they selling them on ITMS globally or just the UK site? If not the US one, I still have no way of legally viewing this content soon after broadcast.
I suppose I could spoof / my IP to be a UK one through a proxy site but still a palava. How many episodes 8 a season that makes sixteen quid. I'd prefer to save them and buy the DVDs instead.

Ok. This is BBC Worldwide. You have always had to pay to own BBC content. It may not be good value but the concept itself in fine. You had to buy DVD's and this is no different.
The patten goes BBC TV > iPlayer > iTunes > DVD. It will eventually be on the US iTunes too.

That article is also written in a way that designed to annoy people, they clearly wanted to have a go at Apple and the BBC. I did like this comment from someone in Munich.
Quote:
For those that complain, you should try living in Germany. Here you must pay a license fee for a TV and even for a radio in a car or computer capable of connecting to the internet. It costs more than the UK TV License. And what do we get: probably the worst TV in Europe (and I have lived in Spain) - endless quizzes, adverts for ringtones, outdated programmes and for a treat they give us a badly-dubbed 1980s US film every so often. I would pay several times the license fee to get British TV and this gives me the opportunity. Plus it raises money for programmes apart from that gained through the license fee. You should be grateful for the BBC and for British TV, but instead you moan for the small amount you pay for it

What about people who don't have an Internet connection, why should they still pay this extra charge?

Oh I misread the article, thought it said it would be taken out of license fees, my bad In which case, people already buy BBC DVDs, so what's the difference?
