Re: Would this work?

What HDD is it? If it has an ethernet port, and stuff, I don't see why not. Even in derby.

Re: Would this work?

I like your diagram

Id say that should work ok - Ive got a similar setup as that, but using a different router.

I use mine just to ftp stuff to it - like photos etc. I find it really useful to have!

Re: Would this work?

Yes, that should work. I have that setup as of last night

Oh, don't forget to add your NAS drive to the 'trusted zone' or whatever in your firewall when setting it up. It took me a while to figure out why I wasn't seeing it on the network.

Well that's assuming the sheep running round in circles providing the electricity generator doesn't get 'napped or run out of energy or something

Yeah should work.

Re: Would this work?

Only one of your antennae is working on your router... you should get that seen to.

Also, is the diagram to scale? If so, it's the biggest router I've ever seen. It's as big as your laptop, and almost as big as your PC

Re: Would this work?

I'm interested in getting a hard disk that I can plug into my router. At the minute I just have an external 300Gb hard disk but I think it would be more useful for me to get one that I can share across my network. Keep us posted...

I hooked up this one just this week. Apart from the firewall issue, it was very easy to set up. Simply plug it in. Run a little tool for it to pick an ip adress, gateway and workgroup, and then map it as a network drive. Works a charm. 250Gig drive accessible from all the machines on the network.
