Front Audio Headers

Got 4 cables, yellow, white, red and black that are the connectors for the front audio that need to go onto the motherboard header but I'm not sure which is which as none are marked.

All I have to follow is this but I am not sure what goes where.

Re: Front Audio Headers

i take it there are no markings on the push on connectors then? most cases have some form of identing.

have u tried checking the case manufacturer's website (that is if it's case fitted) to see if they have any info on the wiring schemes, or is it a bay mounted exp unit?

There are no markings on the pins or anywhere on the case. I bought the case second hand so got nothing with it and I cant find much on their site yet.

Re: Front Audio Headers

I would think:

Black = Ground
Red = Right Channel In
Yellow = Left Channel In
White = Mic In

The Yellow/White might be reversed.

is it on-board sound or sound card? check that the rear jacks haven't been muted in anyway, the reason i say is that on my mobo i can disable/enable front and rear jacks so either rear on/front off rear off/front on etc (although i never use the front)

Re: Front Audio Headers

It is onboard sound. They all seem enabled. I will double check again.

Re: Front Audio Headers

I am just going to unplug the front headers and try and see if it works. In theory both should work like they do on this machine I am on now.
