Maybe the prospect of losing near 150000 customers per year is the reason they do not tell customers where to go when demanding a discount, but as far as I am aware, correct me if wrong, but if customers call retentions to cancel their account they are offered a discount by the people at retentions, would be interesting to know how many actually demand a discount and how many are just given the discount because they are threatening to leave.
NTL are having problems as things are just standing still, if any more of the customer base is lost to the competition then the phrase " creek and paddle " come to mind.

No customer is a " loss making " customer unless the mathematics have been seriously flawed in the first place, cost of manpower and equipment to install the package from the start against loss of revenue?
Even if a customer has all three services to start with, then over a period ends up with just the telephone service, are NTL still not making money on this?
So it seems logic to offer an incentive to keep customers on board.
It would be interesting to know the breakdown of figures in what the 150k " loss making " customers were taking from NTL in terms of service.
