anti spyware programs bad and good ?

a growing trend of anti spyware programs are increasingly coming on to the market, billing themselves as your solution to removing 'adware' and 'spyware'

but are they all legitimate ?

CNET investigates, and names one program called 'SpyBan' which infact installed spyware when it was 'apparently' designed to do the opposite.

Its a shame that nobody has written a spyware test prog. Like the eicar test string.....

You could allways install bonzi buddy to test it - NOT

You just have to keep your ear to the ground and always be wary. A few searches on the internet usually ring the alarm bells if anything is remotely dudgy.

Just stick with AdAware 6 and Spybot S&D

The best and free.

My favourite is Pest Patrol, Search and Destroy. I also use Adaware & Spybot, there is always something the others miss. And before you ask , no I am not paranoid.

I don't use pest patrol, but I would agree that they do find things the others miss.
