Had enough of ntl e-mail? Read this.
The ntl e-mail problem is getting beyond a joke now, as we can see from this forum.
We came up with the idea of possibly helping people out. This thread is to gauge the interest to a possible mail service offered by nthw.
This would involve us giving pop3 mailboxes and forwarding addresses if required to members of this forum. You would be able to send and receive mail completely without using ntl's mail servers (so smtp and pop3), and would have access to a proper webmail service.
The accounts look as though they would be set up manually by us, so unfortunately you would not be able to change your e-mail address/forwarders without asking us. You would be able to change your password and redirect your e-mail elsewhere when required (e.g. hotmail for travelling)
We're not sure on the final details as we'd have to speak to our nice webhost first, but the service would either be free, or require a nominal donation (less that £5/year).
If you're interested, then please post here.

There's also a list of free pop3 suppliers here:

If I hadn't already paid for alternative email provision in order to bypass ntl's shockingly poor service, I'd be jumping at this. I think you should go for it - there will be plenty of people who will jump at the chance to be somebody @nthellworld.co.uk

same here - I've already taken up the nthw special offer from I-Web Solutions, otherwise I would go for this. Actually, depending on the pricing, I might go for this as well, just for the addy

To be honest, my email has been quite decent ( by Ntl's standards ) for months now. However, I have had a Zen account for 7 years now and they are an ultra reliable backup. And also tax deductable.

An interesting idea - not one I will use as I can host my own e-mail if I need it - but I'm sure many would take up the offer.
And if you find you get overwhelmed with requests I'm always willing to help out.

mmmmm
An interesting concept and the spam assasin software installed on the servers is very effective in the job that it does one other aspect that is also worth noting that you can also set email rules on the server much the same way you can set them on OE
I only wish that NTL could setup some sort of spam filtering software on theier email servers as it is i am inundated with spam going to 1 email addy that i have with ntl.

I don't think 13 people responding to this thread will start the ball rolling yet, I would say at least 30 to 40 people showing an interest to make it worthwhile.
You will always get some that will drop out at the last minute.

yeah me too. I use Mailwasher which is very effective but you have to manually bounce all the junk mail. I had 30 mails this morning, 28 of which were junk mainly offering drugs and porn!
