Re: belkin router with tesco broadband

well this modem/router has a wizard when you connect to it on http://192.168.2.1 (you would have to be connected via an ethernet cable) then you have to select your country which is UK and then ISP you can use BT as that has all the settings in there already but you just have to type in your ADSL user details of Tesco and after finishing the setup wizard you should have internet.

Re: belkin router with tesco broadband

If you mean 'enable wireless security', you need to enable it on the router which will give you a 'key' (make sure you go for 'WPA/PSK' security. Once WPA is enabled you will need to enter the same key on your PC/laptop - XP should prompt you to enter the key the first time it tries to connect.
There are some 'flash player' guides for your router here.

Re: belkin router with tesco broadband

aragorn, the link you have there goes to firmware updates for an earlier version

Dippy you can use the following link:
http://www.belkin.com/uk/support/tech/issues_more.asp

there just select Wireless Encryption and it'll guide you through the whole process.

hope that you will keep the unit working okay

Hi, on the security drop down menu, there is only WEP, WPA/WPA2 and WPA2 Only. Which is the right one for me?

Re: belkin router with tesco broadband

use WPA/WPA2, then you got the option afterwards to select WPA-PSK only, encryption technique keep at TKIP.

There is Authentication, 802.1x or pre-shared key,
also a blank box called pre-shared key. Is this where i type the 10 digit number?

Thank you for ALL your help, much appreciated. We couldn't have done it without ya.
We couldnt choose WPA-PSK only as it did not appear so we went with WPA/WPA2 and it has seemed to work as we can now connect wirelessly.
You are the man, thanks again
