Hi and thanks!
I phoned them in the end, and the problem is that they have given my phone number away to a new customer, i had a number change last year and they didnt properly allocate my new number to my account, it only went properly onto my billing account..
They can get my number back for me and they told me a week ago friday just gone it would be done by tuesday last, i phoned them on weds this week and the customer service rep could see what was going on but couldnt understand why nothing at all had been done - im told the problem needs to go to a specialist and they dont have a time scale on how long.
From what I can gather this other customers calls are going on my bill at the moment, something I was promised would be dealt with as soon as the line was put back on and the number reallocated.
Ive been 2 weeks without a phoneline, theres no where i can phone to complain about it. Ive had enough they have till this coming tues before I phone them tell them to stuff it and to shut the line off and I will contact BT and have my BT line turned on. Its a shame because NTL have always been good for me untill but Im at the end of my tether and they dont seem to be doing anything and they are not keeping me informed of whats going - and they have my mobile number.
Thanks for the reply, I just hope someone at NTL can see this message and do somthing to help before I cut all my NTL services off. I had my NTL internet back when it was free on dial up it seems such a shame.
Edit
I should add that they do have a number allocated to my account but I want my number back, and I dont think im being to unreasonable to ask for it back, ive had it almost a year.
Sfx

Hi I found that if you phone the freephone number used for those who are about to be disconnected sometimes they let you through (sometimes they dont thou lol)!
Thanks for the welcome
