Re: ethernet
Hi - to CF
Yes - there should be no problem connecting a Compaq NIC to one of the RJ45 ports on the router.

Re: ethernet
Can't see any issues if both have RJ45 ports.

Re: ethernet
If you're using XP try typing this in a command window or the run box:
netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt
This will reset the stack to its original state, Details here

Re: ethernet
Im both and I'd know how to rebuild/reinstall the IP stack in Linux, no clue how to do it in Windows tho, I'd normally end up doing a reformat

Re: ethernet
Well, it shouldn't cause you anymore trouble than having to format your drive and reinstall Windows!!
I read in another forum that this is what NTL TS suggest if they think your IP stack is borked... (Formatting & reinstalling Windows that is, not the netsh fix)!
[Edit] Microsoft are very cautious, & their only warning is that 3rd party antivirus & firewall programs that access the internet may be affected. If this is the case they should be reinstalled.

Forgot to say, if there's nothing wrong with the stack the command won't change anything!!

Re: ethernet (update)
Hi all, i can still not get my belkin W/R working i played with it for hours over the weekend uninstalling and reinstalling the software,i also moved it closer to my phone point so that i could connect it without useing a extension and plug it straight into the phone point but still it will not work.
In other replies i have had i was told how to reset the tcp stack which i have done (if i done it right) now i get this message "limited or no connectivty" also at one point i had a message which said "no isp address has been assigned to this pc" i had this message once can anyone advise me what to do next other than chuck it in the bin.
