GAME to end it's 10 day Return Policy
GAMEââ‚ ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢s controversial ten day returns policy, known as its †˜free rental serviceââ‚à ‚¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢ amongst many gamers, appears on the verge of being phased out.
The retailer has confirmed to MCV that a number of stores are currently trialling the new scheme which sees the †˜10 dayââ‚Âà ‚¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚¢ scheme replaced with a more traditional 28 day return †“ but the game can only be returned on the condition that the game is unopened.
GAME will place its own seal on boxed product, and exchanges or refunds will be refused if this seal is broken. The move is believed to have been the result of growing pressure from publishers.
So is signalled the end of Game. As we (in Swansea) and most places have a gamestation too, it is now only a matter of time til Game folds as Gamestation games are cheaper, you get more in exchange rates and they buy/sell pre-owned PC games thus I know where I will be shopping from then on
Bye bye game...nice knowing you

Re: GAME to end it's 10 day Return Policy
If Game do this, more and more people will just buy online or, as you say, go to Gamestation. What would happen, if, for example what happened to my mate the other day occurs? I bought 2 copies of Tiger Woods 06 for the PC. I opened and installed mine- no problems, my mate opened his and the CD was covered with some glue which made it unreadable. Will they not accept an exchange merely because it was opened?

I think they will still take them back if they are faulty

They have to take them back if they are faulty, as long as it's a 'manufacturer's fault'

GAME is overpriced, and their staff are obnoxious spotty teenagers, who think they know more than they actually do
Mind you, the last game I bought was from Gamestation which was Splintercell for the Xbox and paid just a quid. Best value ever, if you know what I mean

Re: GAME to end it's 10 day Return Policy
I am considering starting a petition to demand cancellation of the "10 day, No Quibble Refund" Policy but continuation of the "10 day, 2 exchange" policy on the basis that failure to do so will result in 90% of customers either going to other, cheaper stores or simply buying online.
When I have collection sufficient signitures I will send it to Game and Gamestation too, in order to drum up competition interest between the stores

I have to disagree there. Having worked in Electronics Boutique/Game for a few years just after leaving college. there are indeed some stores where the staff are there just to do the job.
The store I worked in most of the staff were heavily in to gaming and PC modding. I was also the one that other members of staff recommended customers asked their techy questions to as I am always up on my information and news.
So before you tarnish every store with the same brush think about what you say.
However I have not shopped there since I stopped working for them as they are getting beyond a joke with the pre-owned trade in prices and store policies. In fact it was really only the great staff discount that caused me to shop there.

I agree mate, the staff in my local one are great guys and I get on really well with them. Sure their manager is a bit of a gaming nerd but heck, anyone who spends enough time there to get to know them must themselves be a bit of a gamer!
Anyways...petition:

Any ideas on modifications I could make, just say

A shame if they do cancel the ten day return policy.
I have to agree that Gamestation trade-ins consistently beat anything that GAME offers you.
Looks like Gamestation 1 GAME 0

Re: GAME to end it's 10 day Return Policy
But if Game scrap their free 10 day rental service they will probably be able to bring their prices down to compete.

They could do it now if they wanted to, but as long as people wil buy at full RRP then Game will keep selling them at RRP...

Exactly, this is the issue!
I tend to but 10 or so games a month at Game where I knwo the staff. Will make a point of buying from Gamestation and Play from henceforth though as Game is dead in my eyes. Theya re gonna take such a loss over this!

Yes, but how many people bought at full RRP because they knew they could get a full refund in 10 days (i.e. Game could have charged twice the RRP and these people would have still bought at that price - they do not care what the price is).
If Game stop these people then how many will be left buying at full RRP? I suspect they will very quickly be forced to drop their prices or go bust.
