Does this problem affect both PCs, or just the master one?

How is the master PC connected to the internet - cable modem or Set Top Box, and using USB or Ethernet?

Re: Problems with sharing and interent connection over a network

its not the master PC has the problem it's the other one that is connecting through the master PC. Im getting internet off a cable modem and it is connected to the computer through usb. at first i thought it was a problem with the TCP settings but they all look fine to me, unless it is a problem with configuration on the master PC. One PC is a lot more powerful than the other could this be a problem?

Naa, shouldn't have anything to do with one box being more powerful than the other.

Did you just enable internet connection sharing on the usb network device? or did you run the network setup wizard?

Do you have any firewalls running on either machines that could be blocking anything?

Also, save some cash up and invest in a router, much better way to split your connection between multiple machines.

Re: Problems with sharing and interent connection over a network

i went to internat options and reset the settings in the advanced tab although im pretty sure that i had done that before, i took a look at the settings after but i still can't figure out what was the problem. Im planning on investiong in a wireless network anyway and hopefully a notebook or desktop for myself, any recommendations on a good router?

Linksys WRT54GS is quite good (I use it at my house). Don't forget to make it secure
