Help me find my video BIOS!
Ah, here we go again... This place has helped me so much i've come back for more help...
I own a Sapphire Radeon 9550, with a 9600XT Bios on it, and quite frankly the card is starting to feel the pressure of being overclocked so much by default.
Can anyone help me find my BIOS? It's a 256Mb card, 128-Bit width i think... I can't find it anywhere! To make matters worse i can't boot from floppy, only CD.

Re: Help me find my video BIOS!
Druchii, why do I get the feeling you and I are the only two people up at this ungodly hour?
Anyway, a couple of minutes of Googling turned this up -- it seems like what you're looking for:

Re: Help me find my video BIOS!
You see, we WERE the only people up. Difference being i've only just woke up from going to sleep.
I've been there before and tried allsorts, but when flashing back anything using DX or anything using high graphics gets extremely sluggish and sometimes doesn't even work with my GFX card afterwards. Plus i don't know what type of ram i have, or how to find out

Re: Help me find my video BIOS!
I think Squeak is the one who hosts a whole load of Sapphire videocard BIOSs.

Re: Help me find my video BIOS!
Ah thanks Zingle. Still none that could work.
Here's a change in question, i could locate my VBIOS if i knew what RAM manufacturer i have, and of course the type. Is there any tool i can use to find this out? Or indeed where would i look on the 9550?

I'll have to locate it, then look.
That's what i was thinking too, i know it's a 128-Bit Bus, 256Mb DDR400 Ram. But that's not enough to find a working BIOS.
I've got to ask this, but does it matter which company manufactured the RAM on the card in relation to the BIOS?
the onyl reason i ask is because i think some were done at better cas rates etc..

Re: Help me find my video BIOS!
Im not sure I would imagine the bios will detect the correct latency when it detects the ram.I would have thought the bios would have been tied to the GPU amd pathways more but ive only got limited knowledge.
Maybe the card will update using some form of live update alla msi and gigabyte but I really dont know.
Just a note everest detects my cards model number and make correctly

Re: Help me find my video BIOS!
It picks mine up as the 9600XT which it has been BIOS modded to.
In fact, look at the attached image.
I don't think Sapphire do any form of live update. I may try again with a modded 9600XT Bios to 480/222 (as the card handles this nicely) but last time it made 3D lag... This time i've found a better way of removing drivers to start again, etc. So i might try it as a last resort.

Re: Help me find my video BIOS!
all equip has an FCC no.
you can use that no. to find the OEM, and with luck ALL the info you could need, its been a very long time since i did that though and cant be bothered to do it for you myself now, other stuff to do and all that , so here ya go the lazy way LOL,just look here http://www.techpowerup.com/bios/
http://forums.techpowerup.com/archiv...php/t-463.html
it helps when you replace the words rom/bios with firmware

for future reference to readers:
at the bottom of that firmware page it says this:
Have a BIOS not listed here? Submit it.
If possible include memory manufacturer and speed (last two digits on memory chips).

To make matters worse i can't boot from floppy, only CD
|
Hmmmm, missed that first time round, is it a problem for you?
.........
yes, right, do this ...........
search for a bootable dos floppy image ,any will do.
load up magic ISO maker or something.
look for the 'load boot image' or somethig like that, and load up that bootable floppy image.
add your Atiflash v3.09 or whatever plus the new bios/rom/firmware whatever you want to call it.
WRITE THE CDRW out.
boot the cd, find the drive letter its using for the cd bit
and run your ati app, done, power cycle or whatevr you like
hope you put the right one on and it didnt glitch at the wrong time, be happy
(or sad................................%^^^$%^$%^).
bye.

Re: Help me find my video BIOS!
Breakthrough, i have found out its Hynix 504U RAM.
Number on chip : HY50U581622CT-5
That should be all the information i need, but it hurt my eyes reading the pale white on the black chips, the writing was so small.
---------- Post added at 13:59 ---------- Previous post was at 13:51 ----------
Found one, the only one available in 256Mb with Hynix 5 RAM.
I downloaded the modified one, and the original one. Then i think i may go with the softmodded drivers, or maybe Omega or DNA drivers, anyone have any reccomendations?
