Make sure you have no firewalls installed / enabled.
If you do make sure they allow traffic from your other computer
Also you could also check to see if the computers are in the same workgroup.

Re: Internet fine but cant see ofther pc

To check on the workgroup:
open control panel > performance an maintenance (windoze xp category view) > System select the computer name tab and workgroup will be shown.

With Linksys you have to have the router setup in "infrastructure mode" to allow sharing between wired and wireless. At least the user guide to my WRT54GS talks about this, but then I can't for the life of me see where you check the settings

Re: Internet fine but cant see ofther pc

I have checked both computers and and are both on the same workgroup.

If i go to view workgroup computers on my desktop i can see the laptop but it says you do not have permissions.

If i do the same on the laptop i can not see the desktop.

I have changed my wireless connection on the laptop to be infrastructure mode but can not find anything about it on the router itself.

Re: Internet fine but cant see ofther pc

its most likely ur firewall
had to change settings in my norton firewall
when i installed my wireless router
so try disabling ur firewall on both PC and see if it works
also try running network setup on both PC if u havent already done

Re: Internet fine but cant see ofther pc

I had a similar problem with this a while back - turned out to be Zone Alarm...if it is set to update every so oftem the new configuration seemed to throw things off kilter. I took Zone Alarm off completely, use Windows Firewall, but have Ghost-ed my system in case the worse happens...my PC flies along now and can see other computers in the network etc.
