Snail like Broadband

I bought an Actiontec Home Network Starter Pack as recommended by ntl http://www.wirelesspack.co.uk/ and set it up to my cable modem and a desktop PC. I am signed up to 1 MB broadband but when I connect wirelessly via a laptop (iBook G4) it is so slow - see below! How can I sort this out?

Fri, 31 Mar 2006 18:45:33 GMT

1st 512K took 9811 ms = 52.2 KB/sec, approx 430 Kbps, 0.42 Mbps
2nd 512K took 9614 ms = 53.3 KB/sec, approx 439 Kbps, 0.43 Mbps
3rd 512K took 7423 ms = 69 KB/sec, approx 569 Kbps, 0.56 Mbps
4th 512K took 11798 ms = 43.4 KB/sec, approx 358 Kbps, 0.35 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 449 Kbps, 0.44 Mbps

Re: Snail like Broadband

did you use the ibook connected directly to the modem before you setup the network? if so, what kind of speeds were you getting then?

Have you got any other computers on at the same time?

What signal strength do you have on the network? (airport icon, then open internet connect, then there is a signal strength bar.)
