NTL router and wireless set up suggestions

Hi, just got my NTL 10Mb connection having been on BT- hope it works!

Id appreciate some networking advice. My setup with BT was using a BT Voyager 2100 modem and wireless router combo- out of this I had three ethernet connections
1)Desktop
2)Laptop
3)To Netgear RangeMax wireless router outside my study. My study for some reason is a wireless black hole so I need to get the wireless 'generator' out of that room.

This worls fine- the wireless gets to the rest of the house and in particular to a media center pc in the sitting room

I want to replicate this with NTL- but my first efforts have been a bit flaky. I connected the NTL model into a NETgear wireless router with the wireless disabled- then took my three ethernet connections as above out. It worked. Then it didnt. It worked last thing last night. But not this am.

The only way I could get internet connectivity back to the desktop was to plug straigt back into the modem

My prob is obviously with these little boxes.

Any advice?Any recommendations of a particular cable modem/wired router combo?

Much appreciated

ps I havent yet turned BT off -am i safe to do so..?
