Help needed to hide NTL URL
I've half found the answer on here, but I still don't know how to do it!!
I have a web site created in FP2003 that I have on my NTL web space that is forwarded from my 1&1 package. That works fine, but I want to hide my ntlworld.homepage etc address and show the address that is forwarding.
I understand it is something to do with framing, but at this point you might as well talk in Japanese!!
Please could somebody advise me on what I need to do as I am told it can be done, but haven't a clue how?

Re: Help needed to hide NTL URL
You should have an option in your control panel on 1&1 to mask the ntlworld address

Re: Help needed to hide NTL URL
It will depend on whether the control panel provided by your domain registrar offers an option called 'framed forwarding', which does the same as 'ordinary' domain forwarding, but hides the URL of the target site.
- some domain registrars require a fee for this.

Re: Help needed to hide NTL URL
The 1and1 website says the control panel offers 'masked URL forwarding', which sounds like what you are after???

It is, but that seems to be with the domain name only package. I have the MS Hosting package which doesn't say you can do it

ah, I see, no doubt they assume you will just want to use the hosted space.
That is the limit of my knowledge, I'm afraid, I'm not sure if there is any other way to achieve what you want.

Re: Help needed to hide NTL URL
Why not just use the 1&1 space then?

Good question! But there is a reason (which I won't bore you with). I do use my 1&1 for several sites, but I also want to utilise my NTL site....

Re: Help needed to hide NTL URL
OK well why not contact 1&1 to see about getting the account converted to a Domain-Name-Only package.

You could create your own frame hosted on 1&1 which forwards to the NTL space - that would take very little room on 1&1.

Re: Help needed to hide NTL URL
Also remember, NTL does not support Front Page extensions.
