Optimum MTU for NTL network?

Hi

I have a question regarding MTU. My Netgear router allows me to specify this parameter, as I suspect many routers do. The default is 1500 bytes.

Is there an optimum setting for this? I know when I used ADSL BT released their optimal size for optimal packet fragmentation.

Will changing this (on the WAN port) even make a difference to data going out beyond the cable modem?

Ta.

Re: Optimum MTU for NTL network?

Is that a random figure, or was that suggested to you by somebody?
