Question Monitoring Network Use

If I had a router with four people using it. I am using XP pro the other three are using XP home is there any way I can sort of monitor who is using what resources etc?

Hmm... not sure. Im guessing its possible somehow with software on the PC's but afaik most routers dont carry this sort of function. At least i have never seen it. Maybe im wrong ...

Depends who your service provider is.
As far as I am aware, you can no longer gather info from each PC and collectively find out bandwidth usage through the router.
It depends what you want to monitor too.

As for monitoring resources, there may be some kind of logging program that keeps tabs on what users access, but I have never tried these over networks.

What router do you have, it may have snmp and you could monitor bandwidth usage...... or are you looking to monitor whats going on with your network? in terms of where people are going etc?

Its a belkin router (find out model in a moment) and ntl provide the service. I was just sort of curious to see if it could be done etc. e.g if someone was hogging all the bandwidth and so on. Wil check out a tutorial on snmp
