BT voyager 2100 and NTL cable modem

Hi all!

Just a quick question about connecting voyager 2100 and ntl 250 modem cable, although I think I know the answer after reading lots of post, but I want to be sure...

I've got a ntl 250 cable modem with a BB connection from ntl that is working ok. A friend gave me his old 2100 bt voyager as he didn't need it any longer and I want to set up a wireless network at home.

Is there any way to connect the ethernet port of the ntl250 cable modem directly with the voyager 2100?? I have tried several 2100 configurations but it never gets the IP from the cable modem...

My initial idea was to connect things like this:

ntl250 -> voyager2100 (through the ethernet port of ntl250 to another ethernet of voyager2100) -> wired + wireless pcs

But I think the only way to do it is:

ntl250 -> pc (acting lie gateway with 2 ethernet cards) -> voyager2100 (as switch) -> more wired and wireless pcs

Is that correct??

Thanks for your help in advance.

roberto.

That would be an ADSL modem and will not work with NTL cable broadband I'm afraid

The latter way should work though(??). Just using the Voyager as a wired/wireless hub and using ICS on the 'gateway' PC.

You can use it as a switch/hub but not as a router.

If you have £20 to spare go for something like this
