Yep simple answer is you can make it wireless.

I dunno if you have one, or more than one computer. However the easiest solution is to place a wireless router connected by ethernet to the STB, and then add a wireless card to the computer.

Re: wirless help please

Yes, you can make it wireless, dunno.

All you need to get is a wireless router and the necessary bits and pieces to connect your computers to the new wireless network.

Which set top box do you have, and how many computers/laptops do you want to connect?

(Rob beat me to it! )

Recommendations for routers: http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/article.php?a=74

If using wireless you need to think about security too

Remember the fundamental, when you do add the router, power off the STB / router / PC unplug old cabling and setup the new. Only once cables are in place, repower the STB, let that settle, then power the router, let that settle, then power the computer.

Using a STB it's easier to set up a router first if you use ethernet between the router and PC. Later you can then add the wireless bit. You will need to register the router with the ntl STB. First time you try to browse the internet you should get to a ntl registration screen, if not enter start:ntl in Internet Explorer's address bar. Dig out your broadband customer registration details.

Re: wirless help please

Yes, the WRT54GS will work great with your NTL STB.

Belkin USB adapters should work fine at standard 54G speeds but (probably) not at Speedbooster rates - Linksys WUSB54GS would be slightly faster. Having said that, the extra speed only makes a difference between PC's on your network - ie two local PC's can talk at 54Mbs, but they will still be limited by your BBand connection for surfing/downloads.

Re: wirless help please

Also bear in mind that if one of your pc's is next to the router you would be better spending a quid on a ethernet cable rather than wireless for it.

Its getting nuts on ours I have 1 wired pc and 4 wireless laptops and will be adding another after xmas

All happy on a linksys router btw
