Bog-Standard PS2 Online Connection

I want to get my PS2 online to see what all the fuss is about. I'm not about to buy a router or anything else at the minute. I have a slim PS2 with built in ethernet adapter so all I need to do is:
1. Switch off cable modem
2. Unplug modem wire from pc and plug into PS2
3. Switch everything back on

Is that it? It seems a bit too simple to me. Do I need anything else to get it online?

Sounds about right, though I don't have one so cannot confirm. You are just changing the device connected to your internet connection and thats what you do when you do that.

yes, that will work with a cable modem. It wouldnt work if you were getting your BB through a set top box

Was reading somewhere about needing to register the console to get a network access disc. I'll register if it is really needed.

Got it working no problem whatsoever. No disc or any other rubbish needed. Set up was complete in 5 minutes, happy days.
