I missed your thread when you posted it, but it sounds like your modem's mac address has been cloned. I don't know how telewest deal with this, but ntl send an engineer with a replacement modem. Have your problems now been sorted?

as well! It sounds like you are referring to the ip address assigned to your pc, rather than that of the cable modem. Can you post the first part of the two ip addresses that you are getting- eg 81.101.23.XXX . It may be that some of the tests you are running are reporting the ip address of a proxy server that you are going through, rather than your own ip. Although it appears that you aren't going through a proxy at the moment. Hmm.....
If you open a command promt (assuming you are using windows) and type
nslookup xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
Where the X's are the ip address that you get from your checks, does it return an address in the format:
xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx.ubrXX.XX.blueyonder.co.uk ?
