two account numbers???

Is it just me or do you get two account numbers? I got two letters of confirmation about my direct debit and each with different account numbers one starting with 54 and one starting with 44 and both with dated the 16th and 17th of August. One of them does not have my corect surname. Should I be concerned? if you do have two account number why is this?

Re: two account numbers???

Some ntl areas did used to have separate bills for different ntl services, maybe they still do, but I thought that things like "harmony" were supposed to have sorted all that out into one bill. You'd only need separate account numbers if there were separate accounts.

I'd be worried that I was going to get billed twice, and debited twice, even though one of those debits may have been set up in error, given the wrong surname spelling.

On the other hand if the surname spelling is wrong, you might be able to argue to your bank that it is not a valid direct debit mandate, worth checking with your bank, as an added line of defence against ntl doing something odd.

Re: two account numbers???

As you have unfortunately not provided where abouts you live I can only guess at the moment.

You have ordered CATV / Digi / Telco (account number starting in 44 - ICMS)
You have ordered SACM for broadband (account number starting 54 - Harmony).

Harmony project still ongoing

Guessing you live in the North West or South East of England???

Re: two account numbers???

forgot that ICMS also covers Bromley area too. So more than likely above scenario fits.

Re: two account numbers???

Yep, my franchise is Bromley too & I got two account numbers due to an NTL error when I signed up.

They sent me my ordinary BB bill plus a separate £2 bill with a different a/c number for not paying every month by DD - even though I do.

One of the regulars here who worked for NTL C/S sorted it out for me - another good reason for joining CF

If it becomes an issue for you just contact C/S - and if you have no joy with the standard route post here again & I'm sure one of NTL's serfs who surfs here'll sort it out for you by PM

Re: two account numbers???

Two direct debits are correct, one pays for the Catv/Telco (the 44 number) the other pays for the BB (the 54 number)

Re: two account numbers???

Yep, two accounts/bills/DD's is correct. This inspite of asking several times for them to be combined into one account/bill/DD

Re: two account numbers???

the thing is I signed up over the net and on the letter it says if the details are not correct please contact us on the telephone number shown at the top of your bill. (Which I have not received yet) and no where on the paper does it have any contact numbers. On the other Letter with the account number starting with 54 it says if your details are not correct please contact your ntl: Customer Management Centre as soon as possible. Once again what is the number?

Does anybody know what number I need to phone?

I just need to change my details on the on letter the other letter seems to be fine.

You can ask all you like - the system is not yet capable of being able to produce one bill for your account....

Yeh, and they've been telling me for three years the ability is coming. It doesn't give you much confidence if a technology change takes so long. Mind you, having worked for several very large IT organisations in the past I can understand why they are so slow at making the changes . That's why I like to work for small organisations these days

Re: two account numbers???

I've been with NTL 8 yrs now, and always have two bills too. One for the Cable TV (inluding phone line rental), and one for phone calls, and broadband charges. We've not received the TV bill for the last 4 months, although they still take the money from the bank.
