People failing driving tests repeatedly
I feel like there should be a limit of 5 attempts at either theory or practical, then you’re out. Driving obviously just isn’t for you and for your own safety and those around you, you should not be allowed to drive.
Unpopular opinion, perhaps.
128 fails!

Re: People failing driving tests repeatedly
Failing the theory test takes quite some doing.
The practical test is quite hard and for good reason, so failing that is understandable but the system is working if they retake and become good enough to pass.

Re: People failing driving tests repeatedly
They walk among us.
But as long as they keep failing the test they keep walking, and that’s fine.

Re: People failing driving tests repeatedly
If you have to take the theory test 75 times before passing, then passing is likely to have been a fluke and doesn't represent their knowledge.
There are online tools to help to practice, so to fail that many times before is horrendous.
If you fail that many times, either the pass rate has to be higher or they has to pass 3 times in succession. Passing shouldn't depend on getting the right question on a particular day.

Re: People failing driving tests repeatedly
Maybe the people they are paying to take their tests for them are not good enough?
"You must take the official theory test in English, Welsh, or British Sign Language."

They're probably a visitor and already have a foreign driving license.
If not, what are they doing living here and not integrating

Re: People failing driving tests repeatedly
I've seen several people fail their theory test.
To be fair, sometimes the way the questions are written doesnt help.
I do agree though that if after 5 attempts you have no way of passing then save your money and take the bus.

If I had to take a theory test I'd probably fail it.
Lets be honest here, how many of you out there, having driven for years, religiously read through the latest Highway Code every 6 months to familiarize yourself with all the changes?

Very true, I don't think I'd want to do it all over again.
Some of the roundabouts in this country, it's a miracle to work out where to go they can be so complicated.

From my observations 90% of drivers have no idea what the highway code is

Thinking on it, most drivers let the car do the work now.
Cars that have beeps, whistles and flashing lights if you get too near the car in front, go faster than the speed limit, wander near the center white line(s), and a camera for those difficult reversing maneuvers.
Sensors everywhere that operate the wipers at the first drop of rain, notify of a slight drop in tyre pressure, a continually updating map so you don't need to look at road signs, beeps for door open, boot open, fly open, . . . hands free phone kit so you can chat with your mate while overtaking at 95mph on the AI.
Driverless cars? . . already here Mr Musk
