Logging onto Wifi
Hi all
I mainly use wifi at home and work on my mobile phone (think I also can also log onto BT openzone as part of my Vodafone contract)
Is there anyway of stopping my phone trying to connect to the hundreds of wifi networks out there which I can not log onto. Had a case last week I really needed to check the web at a friends hopuse had a great 4G connect but phone keep trting to connect to house next door who's wifi was protected with a password.
I know I can switch it off but just wondered if there was a simpler option
Regards
Mike

Re: Logging onto Wifi
Phones never do this by default. You should remove or disable whatever software you installed to make it do this. Probably some sort of hotspot finder app.

Re: Logging onto Wifi
if it is android lollipop
settings> wifi>left click>advanced
turn off passpoint
turn off "always allow scanning"

Re: Logging onto Wifi
Most mobiles once given the password to a wi-fi will always connect to it, you can goto your wifi setting and click on the relevant wifi and click forget.

Re: Logging onto Wifi
If it is android you can go to WiFi settings and advanced then untick WiFi notification, then your phone won't tell you when there are available connections.
You can also go to a list of saved Wifi and select forget network if there are any youdon't want tyhe phone connection to.

That says nothing to do with the OP's issue, nor does it say it's on by default.

Did you read the last line of the article?
" You may have to dig within your phone’s settings to turn Passpoint on, however."
That does not indicate a default action.

Nope, I did not read it . I was wrong. I said so in the post above yours. qasdfdsaq was correct (I can now see, that my post was ambiguous)
