Re: Retro Phones making a return maybe?
I can't ever see 'button' phones returning. No doubt there's a small market for people who don't get along with touch-screens but as Steve Jobs said when they launched the iPhone a keypad means the screen will be smaller.

Re: Retro Phones making a return maybe?
That phone looks like it was designed for brickies and hod carriers. It's not really retro, its design is driven by its key selling point, i.e. it's very, very tough and pretty much waterproof.

Re: Retro Phones making a return maybe?
Clamshells have always been popular in the US with most basic phones being of that design unlike here where the low end market has gone for ultra cheap smart phones.

I think you'll find "button" phones still selling more per year than all Apple, Samsung, Motorola and LG smartphones combined.

I think the clamshell is an excellent design and greatly miss my Razr from that point of view.

Button phones are still very much available.
I still use my Samsung J700 atm, but recently bought a Nokia 206 as a possible replacement (thats a current phone).
Remember that not everyones life revolves around their phone, they dont need a "smart" phone, or have the desire to spend every free moment on some social media site, or take endless selfies. Many people (like me) just want something that makes phone calls (remember them ?) sends texts, isnt the size of a small book, and doesnt have to be charged every day.

Re: Retro Phones making a return maybe?
Reading my post again, I didn't say they were not available. They're just not as popular in our market as they used to be and that's just not going to change any time soon.

Re: Retro Phones making a return maybe?
Depends on the market..
Sub £50 is primarily button phones..
We needed a cheap phone for a history group that we run for people to call us on regarding local information, so a cheap £10 Samsung button phone and you can;t go wrong especially when all you want is calling and answerphone.
Getting back to clamshells, all the motorcycle couriers used to use them as there's no way to miss-dial on a clamshell when it's in your leather jacket pocket

Much like my Nokia 113. Calls and texts. That's all I need from a phone. If I want the Internet, then I want somewhere to sit down and read it properly, so my iPad and a free wifi spot are what I use.

Re: Retro Phones making a return maybe?
My Dad has a Nokia 113 to replace the 6230/6230i (both second hand) and I have one in my bag with a PAYG sim in. If I wasn't so reliant on my email and other internet things I would stick with one of my old Nokia's one of the best phones I have ever had.
Battery life needs to be improved on smartphones I feel that is the only thing that lets mine down.
