VM email

Am I correct to say VM email is handled by google?

Is Vm email filtered in any way?

My problem: I have the same email address for 30 years. The domain has been blacklisted by Microsoft and Google mail services. We tell them to unblock us, they do so by they blacklist us again... Yes, our domain has a lot of spam traffic... And I cannot pick up the email direct because the ports are blocked... But I can forward it anywhere that the domain is not blacklisted

Is there a free unfiltered email service?

You sound like you've got several issues there.

Is it your own private domain? Why does it have so much spam? If it's sending out a lot of spam, it's time to kick out the ones doing it, or find out why. This is your problem, not anyone else's.

What? As in whoever owns your domain has blocked the standard POP3/IMAP ports? Or are you trying to say that Virgin has blocked them? Because they haven't. Not unless you're saying that the entire domain has been blocked in which case, refer to point 1. Alternatively, try switching to a different DNS as Virgin will only block domains by IP with a court order. If that's happened, then you're up to no good really.

Your original point is correct, VM's email is essentially a rebranded gmail meaning it has all the same filtering as a standard gmail account. My advice to you would be to just use a gmail account for whatever it is you're trying to do. You can set up your own filter to whitelist anything from your dodgy-assed domain so it doesn't hit the spam filter. If Google is actively blocking the domain completely (as in when you send email from it, you get an SMTP error), then Gmail and Virgin's mail will block identically.

Ultimately, the solution to your problem is to sort out the domain itself.

the same email address for 30 years plastered in many many pages...it attracts lots of spam and as a result google/microsoft classified it as spam itself. we do not act as a relay...

My domain blocked the ports due to DoS attacks...

VM has not blocked my domain

Yes, google (and as you say VM) filters the email and rejects all email from my domain as my domain is erroneously in their spamlist. We file a request and google/microsoft un-lists us only to re-list us automatically after few weeks...

Errr, check again because that doesn't make any sense. For one, why does Google/Microsoft care about how much spam a domain gets? I dare say some of the most spammed domains on the internet are owned by those companies. Have you got an SPF record set up correctly? Are you 100% sure there isn't a dodgy SMTP server hiding behind that domain (or on the same hosting provider your domain is sat on).

Your domain blocked the ports? You mean your hosting provider? Sounds very much like you need a new host, one that's able to deal with simple Denial of Service issues.

If your domain is on their spamlist, then emails from your domain should just be going into people's spam folders. If they're rejecting emails from your domain's SMTP, there's more to it than you're saying. What's the actual rejection message you're seeing from them?
