Just total rubbish service
Just had quite a lot of stick from the Mrs as she could not watch the celebrity tennis on BBC red button we just got the spinning roundel. I re-set the box, and it did just the same, I am coming to the conclusion that my wife is right as always, and the Virgin Tivo box we have is rubbish. I switched to Free-view BBC1 red button and it worked within seconds of the request so she's a happy bunny. I not a happy bunny as I'm paying good money for the XL TV while Free-Serve is Free
I'm going to phone CS on Monday when I have a spare moment and they will no doubt get me to re-set the Tivo while jumping up and down on my left leg.
Anybody having the same problems with the red button????
I wouldn't mind but, I have a problem with my BB and was unable to watch the Apple Keynotes live the other day without switching to my neighbours BT WiFi which is about 2.8 Mb on twisted pair. The strange thing is I'm on 30Mb cable and its not attached to the same cable TV line.

Re: just total rubbish service
Hi,
The BBC red button channels have recently been added on channels 991-994, the connected red button can be a little temperamental so it's best to use them. At least you didn't miss any of the action by using Freeview

Re: just total rubbish service
I really like TiVo but the BBC side of things needs to be looked at. Today I tried to watch a programme on the BBC iPlayer, got half way through fine than just constant buffering. Switched down to the SD version which usually works fine but that was exactly the same. I am having to make sure I record things on BBC because the iPlayer app is so unreliable. I just hope the other channels don't decide to go down the app route like on youview or catch up will be all but useless.

Haha, no problem, no balancing the remote on your head needed either

Yes with the iPlayer using the TiVo's internet connection it can less reliable for some people compared to the On Demand service used for everything else. That's why I'd like to see where available, if there is a copy of the program on Virgin's On Demand service used for the V/V+ boxes then the TiVo should use that over the internet copy

I am having a major issue on one box (Samsung) with you tube so I could be watching and then it just pauses then you have to reboot the whole thing and it starts again

Re: just total rubbish service
I had the same problem as the op with the tennis, resolved it the same way. I don't usually have problems with red button or Iplayer even in HD.
Thanks Ben B for the tip on channels 991-994 as it means I don't have to switch off my av receiver to get sound as my tv does not have arc (audio return channel) .

Bit confused; what would cause you to have to switch off your receiver because you don't have arc?. My TVs don't have arc but all sound goes through my AV recievers

Re: just total rubbish service
My av receiver is only connected using HDMI I dont use a toslink from my tv to the amp so when I switch to free view (very rarely) I have to switch the amp off to get the sound through the the tv speakers.
The tv has been set up to control the amp when I use the volume on the tv or tivo remote so mutes the sound on the tv when the amp is switched on. Hope this makes sense.

From what I read, for platform neutrality reasons the BBC is trying to phase out iPlayer access except through their standardised IPTV architecture so unfortunately I don't think that will happen.

Re: just total rubbish service
I complained to virgin re the BB and TV service, and the Tech from inland tech support said he would get a MM technician booked for the call as they carry more equipment and would be able to sort the problem. The guy who turned up checked the levels and said every thing was fine as he could see. I asked him what a MM technician is, and he had never heard of it.
My question is what is a MM Technician? is it like the acronym PEBKAC ???
