Councils and Race and Colour

I was trying to find info on this years council tax. and what struck me is how Bham council sort of seperate races (either intentionally or unintentionally)

Those for/against the proposed council tax changes.

Asians 56% no v 25% yes
White 40% no v 45% yes
Black/Afro 39% no v 46% yes
Under 30s 48% no v 33% yes
30 to 59 47% no v 37% yes
CTB recipients 44% no v 38% yes
Over 60s 29% no v 55% yes

it has annoyed me for quite a while now.

what are we supposed to do with say the Black/Afro figures?
say "oh they would. they're like that"?

are you supposed to notice that a lot of Asians compared to whites/blacks (people colour look) said No?

if we're not supposed to comment. then why is it there for us all to see, think and comment on?

Anyone else think that councils are the worst people for making race and colour an issue?

It's not just race and colour either.

You can't ask our council a question without them wanting to know what colour your skin is and what God if any, you believe in lately.

try and sign up for something and they want to know your colour, which God you prefer, whether you like women, men or both sexually. and all the rest.

and then if you miss one out. you get redirected back to the page because you haven't told them what your sexual preference is.

tell them that and you're allowed to proceed.

Thank you Maggy.
we're all getting on with life with each other.
and then someone at the council releases yet again something seperating us all.
something to remind us that we're all seperated.
the white people, the black people and the brown people.
the straight, the gays, and the not fussed.

we should ask him or her whether they're doing it on purpose. and what reaction he or she is trying to get

it's not about what services and such are appropriately given.
there's no need to publish results or everything else by way of what the whites, what the blacks, and what the browns think.

just publish the results as a whole.

Tescos don't publish that they sell Levi's Reggae Sauce to mostly black people. and Shell don't even care whether you're gay, straight or not fussy when they sell you petrol.

Re: Councils and Race and Colour

I think they want to be seen to be specifically interested in racial groups, so that they can't then be classed as racist with their policies. Daft, but possibly worthwhile in some circumstances.

My problem with is with one classification: Asian. It seems to lump together middle eastern, those from the the Indian subcontinent, and all of the far east.
