recording dvd off v+

i got stuck here until virgin tech came to unfreeze box and said that i had to set rgb or equivalent in SETTINGS. magic thumbs or not it's recording away as i type. question. how much can i get on a dvd-r?

depends on what setting you use. My Panasonic has several record modes, standard quality is 2 hrs, high quality 1 hr, low quality 4 hrs

The RGB setting shouldn't stop it working. Check you've got the DVD plugged into the "VCR" socket on the V+.

Edit: I now realise you may be talking about the RGB setting on the DVD, not on the V+. If so, ignore this post, and see nomadking's, below.

One potential problem with RGB issues, is that if your DVD recorder is set to RGB mode and it's not being provided with an RGB signal, the picture will be blank. IIRC if you want RGB recordings, you have to use the TV SCART socket on the V+ and not the VCR one. That is what works for me. If you can't use the TV SCART for some reason then you will have to set your DVD recorder to record in composite video and not RGB.
