Question Why do I need an engineer for my 20Mb to 60Mb upgrade

I am due for a free 20Mb to 60Mb upgrade & when I logged in to request the upgrade the text told me that VM would send me a Superhub & only send an engineer if I required one. However, as I completed the request it automatically asked me to book an engineer which I did. I queried this with VM but they weren't clear why an engineer was needed, just that he was. In the past when an engineer has been involved they have done very little & left all the configuration bits to me. Anybody any idea what the engineer is needed for in this upgrade?

Re: Why do I need an engineer for my 20Mb to 60Mb upgrade

You need him to avoid having him to arrive after the super hub says your power levels are too high...
My power levels were perfectly fine on old modem but going from the normal modem to super hub and the new system, messed up the power levels.
I forgot to make him stay to check them but you should.....

It cost me a little device via mail order to fix them later and had 3 days of slower internet.

This is why they want an engineer. the guy will also dispose of the old modem in the bin for you later.

Docsis 3 is more sensitive to power levels, it's just a customer experience thing.

Re: Why do I need an engineer for my 20Mb to 60Mb upgrade

They phoned me up and offered me an upgrade from 20Mb to 60Mb a few months ago.

No engineer came. Superhub came by post. Easy to set up. Been totally reliable. Never rebooted itself or needed rebooting.

That would have been because your power levels were fine.
