cabling for the future
Hello,
I am doing extensive house refurbishing and want to make sure I will get all the cabling in place correctly. I will only get one shot at it.
I will use Cat6 cables for data points in each room. I will have a 'hub' in the office, in front of the house. I have three rooms with HDTVs. The main room (living room) will have a virgin media TIVO box (or should that go to the hub room?). I want to get that signal to other two tvs as well. What's the best way to do it? Via coax or cat6? I thought I would take the signal to the hub room, split it there and send it over to the other tvs via cat6. Presumably I will need HDMI baluns and few other pieces of equipment like magic eye maybe some sort of signal boosters?
How many cat6 cables and coaxes should I run to each of the TV rooms? Should I think of any other cables?
I will also drop a sky cable up on the roof, just in case. For freeview, would I need one coax cable to run from roof to the hub and from there to each of the TVs or how would you do it?
Should I locate media center type equipment (x box etc) in the living room or hub room? I am also considering getting a Nas drives, but have to do more research.
I am rather overwhelmed by the complexity of it all and would appreciate any advice. many thanks
