Did I upgrade to an unstable 30Mb/s or does this super hub take time to settle down.
Hello
Had 30mb/s - Wed night - fri morning after upgrade.
Fri evening 20Mb/s max still 20Mb/s today.
Is the super hub working correctly.... I asume the 33000000 downstream figure would mean yes. but you can correct me on the power figures not being right or are they.
Or have I ended up in an over subscribed tier now with the old folks here down south taking to much BB..

Re: Did I upgrade to an unstable 30Mb/s or does this super hub take time to settle do
The SH needs no time to settle down. There's only on way to measure your performance with any certainty and that's to have the SH in modem mode and either your own router or your PC wired to it. Then we can rule out the wretched thing which is known to be flakey in router mode especially if wireless is turned on.
Your downstream power levels are too high. If you has 8 channels (which you will in due course), those levels aggregated under the 3 dB doubling rule (you can look that up!) would exceed the 33 dBmv absolute input power level.
IMO your SH needs a 10 dB Forward Path Attenuator (VM engineer or eBay).
But there is something strange happening in that your upstream power is so high. If there was cable attenuation, the upstream would have trouble pushing through and would be high; but then the downstream would be low. But your upstream is high. If you ever see it at 55 dBmv or above, then things will slow down.
It could be high because it can't responde to keep-alives due to the high downstream power. So the first step is to put a 10 dB forward path attenuator on and see what happens.
And do please use modem mode if you don't want a whole can of whooppee what's wrong experience!

Yep got modem mode on, was not going to make that error. read that enough times.
Ok ordered a 10dB Forward Path Attenuator thingy, If it will avoid having to wait for engineer.

Re: Did I upgrade to an unstable 30Mb/s or does this super hub take time to settle do
This is typical now ive spent <£8 its back to full download speed again now. with out any changes in the super hub.
Its like some one flicked the switch and changed me back to 30Mb/s from 20Mb/s
As Im now downloading again at 3.6MB/s OK.
This is going over my head for once as there has been zero change in the Superhub. Ill fit the thingy.. and see if there are changes.
edit : sorry I meant on tuesday when it arrives

Re: Did I upgrade to an unstable 30Mb/s or does this super hub take time to settle do
yep infact they have all gone up but 1
up stream is exactly the same.
sorry
I wont have the 10 dB Forward Path Attenuator till tuesday due to bank holiday monday.
Don't understand how going up gets me full speed download again.
Edit OK Yep its gone again back down to 20Mb/s again looks like I will have to wait till Tuesday then as it is randomly swapping before I report back.
cheers till then.

Re: Did I upgrade to an unstable 30Mb/s or does this super hub take time to settle do
If the tuners in the SH are affected by the high power, like there is crosstalk, or an amplifier is overdriven, then there will be downstream FEC errors (that are not pblicly reported in the SH Logs but which were reportrdd in the VMNG 300).
But yes, if there is congestion anywhere, the attenuator won't do anything other than prevent collapse when the SH is eventually provisioned with 8 DS channels.

Re: Did I upgrade to an unstable 30Mb/s or does this super hub take time to settle do
OK seeing as i was getting emails when people post.
heres an update.
Now ive unsubscribed from topic the emails will stop.
Its randomly going from 20Mb/s - 30Mb/s type speed teirs.
Upload remains a constant 2Mb/s which is better than the 1Mb/s upload of 10Mb/s.
It was a free upgrade, No cost. It would just be nice to have FIXED speed again.
Missed the shipping window for Saturday so wont get the part till Wednesday.
Bank holidays suck.. they won't work them.
see ya wednesday.

Re: Did I upgrade to an unstable 30Mb/s or does this super hub take time to settle do
Well I stuck the lump of metal on and got...
So yep moved to over subscribed tier.
Posts are being made from users who upgrade this week that CS are now saying they may not get the upgraded speed in their area when they upgrade. Looks like the training was altered for the second week after the new bundles.
