100M Router Vs Powerline

At this point im still waiting for virgin media to come and sort out my 100mb line.

people have been saying to get a new router to put in, but i have seen these powerline adapters

we do use wireless all over our house, but when im on my laptop im only like about 10foot from the router(but dont want a lead running around the room)
Does anyone know if i connected these up with the 100mb line, would i get that on my laptop?

OR
Should i be getting the 100mb(ish) with the superhub on my laptop via wireless (a friend has the superhub, and he gets about 93mb wireless on his laptop) and hes got the same wireless adapter in his laptop.

deary me dude, I wish I had seen your other thread sooner because I would have told you not to get the shub, especially for wireless, and shame on Ben for telling you to get it. I didn't read all 6 pages but hopefully somebody told you not to get it.

Anyways, you could go for those homeplugs like you suggest and they'll work fine (maybe not with the shub) but that still leaves you with using the shub as a router which makes me cringe. If I were you I would bang the shub in modem mode and buy something like the Linksys E2000 or E3000 (dual band) which is a great router with great wireless performance (for range and speed). Getting yourself a decent router will mean you never have to worry about the shub again (fingers crossed).

well i had the belkin powerline plugs that were rated at 200mbps and the most i could get out of them was 72mb on 100mb connection, (when i was on 50mb used to max out btw!!)

In the end i got virgin to agree to put me another point in upstairs for free and now i am directly connected to the superhub,

With 100mb direct connection is the only way to fly!!!

I use Devolo 200AV. I threw my Belkin out. Good thing - the right Powerline model.

I use TP Link 200 Home Plugs. Amazing! Home plugs are brilliant providing that they are connected directly to a wall socket and avoid all extension leads and especially surge protectors which drastically reduce their throughput. Ten times better and more reliable than a wireless connection. To get the maximum out of them, your house wiring should be in pretty good condition. I get 140 mb throughput consistently.

I get over 100Mbit from my Solwise.

Most of the 200 models I've seen are fitted with 100Mbps ethernet ports. The 200 relates to their highest sync rate and just like WiFi they don't actually deliver anything like that even when the do achieve maximum sync.

I had some 85Mbps ones and their throughput was ~ 33Mbps which is better than G WiFi (23Mbps with a fair wind) but IMO you'd need at least the 500Mbps ones to match 100Mbps cable.

I have 4 sets of D Link 200mb Adapters, the one nearest to the Router syncs at 190mb and I can only achieve 60 mb throughput

. I had the solwise 85mb plugs before and could only get around 20-30mb from them.

Oi. My wifi delivers 120mbps when sync'd at 150. Don't be dissin' mah wifi.

One thing to be aware of is that Powerline adaptors work very badly if yor house has separate ring main circuits on each floor. Mine does and the max I could get was about 3Mbit/sec. I took two upto my daughter and she getting a proper speed because the adaptors are on the same ring main.

Now that I don't doubt - I only use wifi for phones and tablets so don't put any great importance on it - my network is essentially just a couple of gigabit switches with my ancient Buffalo router running Tomato acting as an internet gateway and DHCP server - it does have G WiFi, another G AP on a Fonera+ which I run to get free FON access elsewhere, and a cheapy TP-Link 150 N AP.
