Angry Futile attempt to report SPAM sms

I got a text message from an unknown source:

"+447428******: FREEMSG: Our records indicate that you may be entitled to £3750 for the accident you had. To apply free reply CLAIM to this message. To opt out text STOP."

I have masked the number incase it is a genuine number just spoofed onto the message.
I will not response because that would be plain silly (confirming a live sucker!)

I used the 789 number to find out how to report this abuse. Total waste of time. All they could offer me was to change my number!! What?
How about blocking the source of the SPAM for the good of all VM customers?

Some other mobile operators have a number that SPAM text messages can be forwarded to, does VM have one?

Re: Futile attempt to report SPAM sms

Everyone gets them and they are usually from offshore and therefore unable to be blocked as they just change the number.

http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/phones/stop-spam-texts - not an awful lot of help though, but confirms that using "STOP" against these is worse than useless.

Re: Futile attempt to report SPAM sms

I get them through Vodaphone (work mob) and orange (personal mob) so unfortunately a wider problem than just VM
