Re: Why does the wifi light flash

I'm not sure how this works, but if you turn off the SSID does that help, as it should no longer need to broadcast its name to everyone who's listening.

Re: Why does the wifi light flash

If you're only using wired connections turn the Superhub WiFi off.

If you do need WiFi then a roll of black tape from a pound shop should sort out all the annoying lights.

Even if there is nothing connected, it still has to broadcast otherwise any device that might appear (such as a mobile phone being bought home) that needs to access it won't find it.

As said about, turn the WiFi off if you don't need it, and it's irritating.

LOL!

Wifi devices that are just "broadcasting" should not be blinking the activity light. There's no point to an activity light if it doesn't indicate activity and is always blinking, plus it's certainly not the industry norm. Most routers remain steady (not blinking) while broadcasting and only blink when there's user data activity.

Re: Why does the wifi light flash

There are plenty of Superhub "features" that are a long long way from the industry norm and imo many of those are far more annoying than a traffic indicator made useless because it always flashes regardless of any traffic.

I was thinking of doing this to mine but it seems like a lot of the light comes out of the air vents and I wasn't sure if it was safe. The hub seems to lose connection enough as it is so I don't want it overheating as well.

Re: Why does the wifi light flash

Yes they are surface mount LEDs and some will show through the vents which shouldn't be covered but at least some is blocked by the tape. When I had a superhub I kept it behind the sofa.

Re: Why does the wifi light flash

Yes, but a computer SHOULD have lots of flashy lights. That's how you know it's a computer. Otherwise it could be mistaken for any old bit of household gubbinry and then where would we be, hmm? Anarchy, that's where. For preference it should have a spool tape drive on the front as well.

If we allow falling standards to make computers appear simple how will we be able to keep our reputations as miracle workers with the rest of the herd? Have some pride man, rip that tape off and whip your wifi out of the closet for all to marvel at.
