Had problems conecting to internet

For the first time in 10 years i have had tonight problems in connecting to the internet .
At one point i was able to connect but took an age for any site i went on to down load anything.
I thought my lap top was packing up but my son had the same problem with his lap top.
I rebooted the modem a couple of times leaving it turned off for aprox 30 seconds each time but still no joy.
Then i turned it of and left it for about 45mins, and then managed to connect ok .
Has anyone got any ideas as to why i might have had this problem ,
Many thanks.

Re: Had problems conecting to internet

What connection do you have, modem? Are the standard lights lit, flashing, or off?

It may be that it's too warm for some VM kit. They've had issues in the past with overheating street cabinet kit. At least that is what I suspect has killed my home connections for the last 2-3 days until around 9.00 pm when it's cooled down a bit.

Re: Had problems conecting to internet

You mention laptops so I assume you are using Wireless.

Have a look to see if you have a new WiFi neighbour knocking your signal about.

Try InSSISer or Xirrus Wifi Inspector. Both free and allow you to see who is using what channel around you. Then move your channel away (done on your router).
