				Slow PS3 network

I have my ps3 connected via Ethernet to my belkin n150 modem / router.
It has just taken well over half an hour to download 47mb of data as part of updating my gran turismo game.

I was wondering if there was a simple reason it's so slow.

It's no faster if I connect wireless either.

 Any ideas appreciated.

 Cheers dilli

I find that the PSN can be really slow most of the time. Not sure why but it's extremely annoying.

Randomly it may give me ok speeds though.

My update for GT5 took about 20mins (on 10MB) which is considerably slower than usual. Although I bet theres still plenty of people downloading their free games etc (inFAMOUS was a good 7gb download and Little Big Planet was 2gb)

			Yip.
But I just swapped out my Ethernet cable (which was from my xbox) and it's working much better.

Have you tried doing a speedtest from your PS3 just to gauge how it stack's up. Even when I was on 50Mbps the PS3 never got anywhere near that on speedtest's.
Taking that into consideration though Ive noticed generally the download speeds via PSN to be almost like dial up since the hack.

Updates will always be slow when they've just been released, with the GT one, it's a good update some people have been coming back to the game just to see the new features therefore lots of people downloading the update at the same time, it's bound to be a bit slow

When I changed my cable I got my full 6.2mb according to the ps3 connection test.
It took about ten mind to do it then.

Sorted - cheers all |
