Virgin media vmng300
Hi everyone - Just a couple of questions I hope someone can help with?
Can someone direct me to a manual for the VM VMG300
and
Does anyone know how to setup a VMG300 to act as an access point?
I have a VM supberhub in my front room - I also have a cable running into my living room (nothing on it just now) - I want to connect the VMG300 to it so I can run ethernet to another machine. I'm on the 50mb service.
Does the VMG300 have wifi?
Thanks in advance for any positive responses

Re: Virgin media vmng300
VMNG is a stand alone modem, it cant be used as an access point and/because it has no wireless ..

Re: Virgin media vmng300
The VMDG300 is a modem not a router. You cannot do what you are trying to do.
Look who got here before me!

Re: Virgin media vmng300
Okay - So I'll have another go at trying to explain...
I 'AM' a newb...
" I have a VM supberhub in my front room - I also have a [[VM]] cable running into my living room (nothing on it just now) - I want to connect the VMG300 to it so I can run ethernet to another machine. I'm on the 50mb service"
I've connected the XMNG300 to the VM cable in the middle room and all systems are go - according to the lights but - I can't access the 192.168.0.1 with ethernet from it to my laptop and - I can't access the internet.
I've tried assigning 192.168.0.19 as an ip address and that doesn't work.
Is it possible to duplicate the mac code for the superhub and assign it to the 300 or do something else?
I don't know - I'm not that great at networking but, someone must get the drift of what i'm trying to do ????
Cheers !

Re: Virgin media vmng300
When you got the Superhub, the VMNG should have been taken offline, explaining why it doesnt work now.
As a device it can't be used for anything other than a single connection to the internet, if its on a live account.

Re: Virgin media vmng300
Thanks MOAB
Okay - so i think i understand.
I had an ambit250? whcih the engineer took away. I was given the 300.
Am I able to put another cable modem/router on the vm cable in the 2nd room and if so could you recommend one?
I guess otherwise - i just network into the 2nd room via ethernet?

Re: Virgin media vmng300
you can only have one modem activated at once, so that will be the superhub
any other modem you have will be deactivated and pretty much useless. you cant use any modem as routing device, only the superhub has routing functionality
it will probably have to be ethernet

Re: Virgin media vmng300
Nowhere, it isnt yours to sell.
Keep hold of it just incase your Superhub dies or you get fed up of its flaws and want your own modem + router combo.
