Angry Repeatedly let down by TiVo recording

That's 2 weeks in a row I've had to try and justify TiVo's failure to record the wife's favourite show, and now it failed to record one of my shows (and the backup on alternative channel!)

Ok, first, Antiques Roadshow (happened 2 weeks running):
BBC1 HD - Ch108 - New & Rerun
Show airs on Sundays 8pm. Recording hiccup due to show reshown within 28 days. Instead it recorded previous week's HD show with signing! (person in bottom left screen). No offense to deaf people, but my wife doesn't want to watch the signer and a reduced screensize.

Second failure, Live: MotoGP (prime recording):
BBC2 - Ch102 - New only
Show airs once a week only, no repeats. Recording hiccup due to show reshown within 28 days. This is a lie, it is not re-shown at all, and looking at "upcoming episodes" reveals no shows!

Live: MotoGP (backup recording):
Eurosport2 - New & Rerun
Show airs once a week with repeats title without "Live: " prefix. Recording hiccup due to show reshwon within 28 days. Again, a lie because although it is re-shown, it's a different titled program and therefore when I looked in "upcoming episodes" there were no shows other than the next fixture.

The TiVo suggestion is to record "Everything". Why can't it just have an option to say "Record as soon as possible".

I looked at what conflicts it thought there might be and I could see none in the TV guide. So why it decided to not record and then wait for a later recording... who knows.

The wife said "I want the V+ back", so I have 2 weeks for TiVo to sort itself out or for me to work out the exact magic incantations it requires to record what we want.

As it is, it's just not good enough. I've missed a BBC recording of MotoGP and will not be able to watch that version, instead I'll have to record the repeat on Eurosport with different commentators and format etc. Not what I wanted.

Re: Repeatedly let down by TiVo recording

Are you trying to record using wish lists or actual series links?

Re: Repeatedly let down by TiVo recording

The reshown issue could be due to an incorect air date on the show description.

Since TiVo is entirely useless without good EPG data, the two go hand in hand as far as I'm concerned. If VM TiVo isn't recording programmes and then can't record reruns because they don't exist, then the service isnt a useful service.

is it worth calling CS to report these issues?

I had a call from the tivo feedback team today. Theyre fully aware of the major problems/bugs/issues.
The only one she would confirm theyre actually doing anything about is reminders.
I would call them. They do take note.

They sure are, I spent a while on phone explaining it today (it's hard to explain this scenario on phone) and they are going to setup test scenarios on their boxes in the office to work out what went wrong.

They said there is a known series link software bug, and this sounds like it could be related, but they need to investigate further.

Will keep you posted.
