To Kaspersky or not to Kaspersky?

That is the question...

Currently I run mainly with Avast or MSE + windows firewall but I can get KIS free from my bank.

I seem to recall in the past it being a bit heavy is that still the case?

Also does the firewall support profiles that can be used to quickly change the rulset to a more / less restrictive one as I'm looking to configure my laptop in such a way that my background applications can't just jump online the second my laptop gets connected to the internet. (Don't like the idea of authentication details being sent over unsecured networks, I'm pretty sure most of apps use encryption during login but i'd rather play it safe)
